Ingredients

two thumbs of ginger, about 6 to 8 inches unpeeled and sliced
3 tablespoons green mint tea or 3 tea bags
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup of fresh mint leaves
1/2 cup lemon juice
6 cups boiling water

In a large pot, boil the water then remove from heat. Add the ginger, the tea, fresh mint, and sugar. Let it rest for 10 minutes. Strain, then add lemon juice. Stir and chill in the refrigerator. Serve with ice and and some fresh mint leaves.

I didn’t make it as a cold medicine though. It’s more like super-virgin cocktail, great for morning, brunch or for an afternoon tea. The plus is it’s a great digestive and, of course, has all the great properties of all the ingredients.

I filled a bottle with the Ginger Tea and the rest I froze in ice cube trays. Serving the tea with it’s own ice cubes was much nicer, it had more pure, intense flavor, and was more fun.

Non-Virgin Tea
I tried one cube of Ginger Tea with 1 ounce of Vodka and made mini shots. Exotic and unexpected flavor, they were great!

  1. We have been looking for some alternatives to cocktails for sipping on the patio (now that we have some sipping weather)!

  2. Mmmhhh, refreshing and wonderfully fragrant!
